Resumo: This paper presents a didactic sequence proposal for teaching the photoelectric effect in Basic Physics Education using the PhET Interactive Simulation as a pedagogical resource. The proposal aims to support the introduction of Modern Physics concepts in Basic Education by providing students with a visual and interactive approach to phenomena that are often treated only theoretically. The didactic sequence is structured around guided exploration of the simulation, conceptual discussion, and problem-solving activities involving light intensity, wavelength, target material, electron emission, stopping voltage, and threshold frequency. Characteristics related to the nature of the material are explored through the work function, which determines the minimum energy required for the emission of electrons from the material. The proposal seeks to contribute to Physics teaching by connecting abstract concepts of quantum physics with accessible digital resources, promoting active learning and conceptual understanding. Although the sequence has not yet been applied in a classroom context, it offers a structured pathway for teachers who wish to approach the photoelectric effect in a more investigative and meaningful way.
